“This 2024, presidential elections will be held in five Latin American countries, Mexico, Panama, Uruguay, Venezuela, and the Dominican Republic. Only the first three already have confirmed women candidacies, to which Venezuela could eventually join, depending on its internal politics.

 

In total there are eight women seeking the mandate in their respective countries.

 

In Mexico Claudia Sheinbaum and Xóchitl Gálvez perform; In Uruguay, Laura Raffo, Roxana Corbran and Carolina Cosse are pre-candidates;

in Panama there are Zulay Rodríguez and Maribel Gordón; and in Venezuela the candidacy of María Corina Machado, who was disqualified from the elections, remains suspended.”
