Latinos should be afraid of a candidate for president of the United States who wants to have more power than is usual for the position of president. Especially a candidate who is supported by white supremacist groups and who has made many disparaging remarks against Latinos.
As the son of immigrants from both Germany and Cuba, my parents have warned me about these types of leaders that they have faced in their native countries. In Germany, Hitler used the Nazi party to come to power as “The Leader” in order
to create a white race only (Aryan) society, and by placing blame for Germany’s economic woes on the Jews, communists and gypsies.
As an attorney who defends those have been persecuted by power hungry individuals, I fear someone like Trump returning to power in the United States. History has shown how these types of people find a way to remain in power. As Trump himself has said, “in four years, you don’t have to vote again. We’ll have it fixed so good, you’re not gonna have to vote.”
