Luz Castaneda is a self-taught artist, a PhD in biology, and a researcher in the sacred language of nature. Her research and artwork are a combination of her artistic soul and scientific mind with her free spirit intertwining the two. The enchantment of nature, whether through science or through spiritual traditions based on nature, has been the source of inspiration for

her creations.

In 2019, her series Rebirth was awarded by Queens Council on the Arts. In 2021, the series Urban Orishas was shown at ArtOnLink all over NYC, and a short documentary, made by Alex Mink, Urban Orishas was selected at BRIC Documentary Intensive Screening, 2021 Cohort. Most recently the series Healing Leaves was awarded by Queens Arts Fund to be exhibited in 2023.
