Originally from Mexico City, Raul Serrano is based in Kerhonkson, New York and has been painting for over forty years.

Serrano uses an inventive visual language that seeks mystery, poetry and a constant shift of meaning through compositions that recall Renaissance, surrealist, and post-impressionist art.

The viewer is pulled toward dreamscapes, intense juxtapositions of incongruous objects against or within crowds and flows of bodies, human and animal. Uses

of color and form create Kafkaesque challenges to the psyche, calling for visceral reaction or focused reflection, qualities often found in great art.
