January 13, 2022, saw the launch of the first Latin American pico-satellite into orbit, a project born in 2019 in the classrooms of a public industrial school in Argentina and carried out between a visionary professor and his students. The project gave rise to the company Innova Space founded by Alejandro Cordero and two of his former students Luca Uriarte (20) and Iván Mellina (20). The satellite was built using national technology and components.
MDQubeSAT1 San Martín is the first
in the Libertadores de América constellation. The name of the constellation Libertadores de América arose "to express the freedom of being able to communicate and do whatever we want; it has to do with the liberating spirit of everyone who thought of this great America," says Cordero. "My origins are very humble, my vacations were to go by bicycle to my godfather's house, from one neighborhood to another, and stay in his library. That is etched in my mind forever. It has to do with our foundation, you can’t forget where you come from, it's the best tribute I can do".
Speaking about the future, Cordero takes up his teacher's hat and leaves this message for young people: "Let them believe it, in a good way, believe in what they want to do because along with passion and work, there is nothing that cannot be achieved."
