"Pedagogue, writer, politician and thinker, Paulo Freire conceived education as a political action capable of liberating the oppressed."

Freire is perhaps the most important teacher of the second half of the 20th century. His Christian training made him identify with and value the neediest in Latin America and discover that poverty and literacy go hand in hand.

For Freire, the education of the peasants and the poorest in Latin America is the basis for the cultural and economic growth of the peoples, and both the educator and the educated are protagonists of this growth process.

"Education does not change the world, it changes the people who will change the world." Paulo Freire
