Marzo/March 2020

International Women's Day commemorates the struggle of women for their participation, on an equal footing with men in society and in their full development as a person. It was institutionalized by decision of the United Nations in 1975, with the name of International Women's Day and is celebrated on March 8.

The first celebration of International Women's Day was held on March 19, 1911 in Europe, specifically in the countries of Germany, Austria, Denmark and Switzerland, and its commemoration has been extending, since then, to other countries and continents.

For the more than 300 million women in Latin America, March 8 is no longer only celebrated, it is a day of commemoration and fight.

In this month of March - in our radio program every Tuesday from 9 to 10 on WVKR 91.3 FM Radio, Poughkeepsie - ABClatino The Magazine in the Air and who speaks, will recognize Latin-American women who with their commitment and sacrifice contribute to form a more just and equitable society for all.

And we begin by paying tribute to the brave women who carried on their shoulders the destinies of their countries as presidents of the Nation. Watch and read Patria Grande on this month’s magazine.
