Also is very important to understand that our habits of slouching couches, soft arm chairs, soft mattresses and becoming overweight cause gradual deterioration in ways to lead to a breakdown in the structure of the spine. Back pain is the number two reason for all visits to ambulatory care doctors (respiratory infections being the number one) and the number one cause worldwide for disability.
Symptoms and treatment Acute mechanical low back pain which involves the muscles that support the spine usually occurs after an injure, for this, laying on your back on a carpet floor or on some towels or an yoga mat with your knees bend up supported by a pillow; and a pillow under your head will allow muscles to relax .
You can also lying in this position a put a tennis ball under the sore muscles to gently massage it yourself.
It is ok to take over the counter medicine like ibiprofen (advil) or naproxen for few days.Acute back pain affecting discs, nerves, spinal bones and spinal cord is a little more serious. If your low back has been hurting for 3 months or more, then you are considered to be suffering from chronic low back pain and you will need to be under doctor care
