The MIA was born from the initiative of Venado Tuerto visual artist Oscar Poliotto. His desire was to create an art museum for his city. This project began to take shape when he donated 200 works to establish the foundation of the collection. Poliotto was not only the catalyst but also the person responsible for directing the museum in its early years, guiding its development until a formal structure was established.
The International Art Museum of Venado Tuerto [MIA] has built its identity through a set of fundamental actions: “Un enfoque internacional”, with a global competition that gave rise to the International Artists Room; “La innovación”, through the development of anaglyphic tridimensionalism; “Sueños de identidad”, with the creation of the Visual Artists Room of Venado Tuerto; “Convocatoria a reunión”, to establish its civil association; “Una gestión itinerante”, bringing art to the community; “El proyecto institucional se disuelve”, during the pandemic; “Renace el deseo”, with the return through Augmented Reality; “MIA de Muestra II”, which gathered 60 artists; “El arte de encontrar el tesoro”, with the election of a new board; “El hogar del MIA”, upon obtaining its own venue in 2024; “Alegría en su búsqueda de crecer”,
consolidating programs, exhibitions, and educational projects; and “Se hace camino al andar”, with recognitions from the Ministry of Culture of the Nation, the Province of Santa Fe, the Chamber of Senators, and the Deliberative Council of Venado Tuerto, highlighting its contribution to the artistic and cultural fabric of the region.
