The Fourth Transformation (4T) is the name given to Mexico’s current development project, launched under President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and continued under Claudia Sheinbaum, which seeks to mark a historic break with the neoliberal model (1980s–2018).
It is framed as “Mexican Humanism”: a post‑neoliberal approach that combines social justice, ethical governance, and macroeconomic stability. Its core principles include honesty in public life, redistribution “for the good of all, first the poor,” and a strong, active state in strategic sectors such as energy and infrastructure.
