During Mayor Alexander’s visit we learned how village voters go to the polls to elect the mayor and trustees. We also learned to have a voice and advocated to fix Temple Field Park, basketball court. The following week after the mayor’s visit, Francisco a 14 year old participant from the group attended the village trustee meeting to advocate for better and safe conditions at Temple Field. As a result, the mayor and trustees voted to improve the conditions at Temple Field by
providing a healthy and safe environment where teenagers can congregate and play basketball. It is very important for every town and village to offer a safe environment where teenagers can be productive and given an opportunity to prevent unhealthy and risky behaviors.
