You have many options for your cancer treatment. One of the options you can consider is complementary and alternative medicine, which refers to medical products and practices that are not part of standard care. Examples of these therapies are acupuncture, chiropractic and herbal medicine.
Cancer patients can use complementary and alternative medicine to help cope with the side effects of cancer treatment, lessen concerns about cancer treatment and the stress that it means, feel that they are doing something else to help in their own care.
Complementary and alternative treatments do not work for everyone, but some methods such as acupuncture can help improve nausea, pain and other side effects of cancer treatment. Talk to your doctor to make sure all aspects of the treatment work together.
