Phalanstère:
A phalanx/phalanstère (Greek
Phalanx, rectangular military training, and stereos, solid) is an organic
combination of elements considered
necessary for the harmonious life of
a community called the Falange. The
concept, very supportive in intellectual circles in the nineteenth century, was developed by Charles Fourier
and promoted by idealistic industrial
as Jean-Baptiste André Godin. This
is a housing organized around a
central covered courtyard, instead
of community life.
