2012 ABC National Amateur Champion DC/AFC MTB CABO RITA DE SCIPIO It was an inauspicious draw: Tuesday, November 20, 2012, Course 3, last brace of the day that broke away at 3:59 pm. But Lady Luck was with Rita: the birds were out so that she had 5 picture perfect nds, a fast, forward, enthusiastic race and handled beautifully which earned her the title of 2012 ABC National Amateur All-Age Field Champion! Rita won the genetics lottery. All of her grandparents were accomplished. On her mother’s side (Emme): her grandparents are NFC/DC/AFC Tequila Joker (HOF & National Champion 1997) and NFC/DC/AFC Microchips of Nutmeg (National Champion 2002). On her father’s side: grandparents are DC/AFC Redline’s Tequila Smoker (86 placements and 9 hour wins) and DC/ AFC Traveler’s Reign of Terra (88 placements) and the smartest Brittany we’ve ever known. Rita was the rst born in a litter of 6 out of DC/AFC Terra’s Cabo Wabo(Sammy) and DC/AFC TJ’S Single Shot of Scipio (Emme). Rita’s mother, Emme, has Thank you for your interest has over placed 5 times in the National Championships and 113 placements. Her father, Sammy, placed 3rd in the National Amateur in the ABC National Y earbook! Championship and has 85 placements. Rita is the 3rd generation of our Purchase Nationals in Booneville. Both of her parents: Emme females to place at theyour copy on the ABC web site: and clubs.akc.org/brit/ABCItemsForSale.htm Sammy, as well as Rita have had the privilege of winning the W.E. Stevenson Sr. Memorial ABC Dual Dog award. From the rst, she’s been the leader of her pack. When Rita puts on the eld trial jewelry, she knows it’s time to go to work and the job is working to the front and nding birds. She has an exceptional nose and a focus that keeps her on point. We hate to admit it, but we’ve lost Rita on point so many times in the last few years it hurts; our fault. Her name: MTB Cabo Rita de Scipio re ects her lineage of the Tequila and Scipio lines. Her call name, Rita, is a tribute to Rita Keating, the breeder of her granddam, Meg. We are thankful to Paul and Peggy Doiron of Hidden Valley Kennels for training Rita to be the great bird dog she is and for giving her a successful start in eld trialing. Jessica Carlson used her handling magic to nish Rita in the show ring. A big thank you to everyone: judges, scouts, friends (especially the dog wagon folks that spotted her on point last year) who have helped us along the way to be in the winner’s circle! - Margaret Horstmeyer & Tom White 53
