WHY AAS

Working on the AAS Management Committee is purely voluntary. People often ask me why I have chosen this as my philanthropy. In fact,  I owe it to AAS immediate past President, Mr. Loh Hoon Sun, and former High Commissioner of Australia to Singapore, HE. Mr. Philip Green, who both selected and supported me to take on this role.

My ties with Australia extend over more than 30 years. I studied my Bachelor of Commerce degree at University of Queensland and attained my  highest qualification, Chartered Accountant in Australia while working there.  I worked for ANZ Bank for 16 years, and in 2009, I launched TrustCapital, with my partners, CIMB Bank and David Tan, a private equity real estate firm that focuses on investing in Office properties in Australia. I even met my wife over an Aussie BBQ.  This has also resulted in a passion for Australian sports. Having lived in Queensland for 10 years, I still support Brisbane Broncos, The Maroons, Queensland Reds, The Kangaroos and the Wallabies. On reflection, if not for Australia, I would not be where I am today.

Through my role as the President of AAS, it gives me great pleasure and satisfaction personally, to be able to contribute meaningfully to Australian education and an Australia, that I am heavily indebted to.

AAS - THE WAY FORWARD

AAS FUTURES

"Congratulations to Chris and the Management Committee for the fantastic progress that AAS continues to make. You have become a hugely important part of the glue that binds Singapore and Australia. As a member of the Advisory Council, I’ve been greatly impressed by the leadership that Chris continues to demonstrate, and the hard work that the management committee devotes to the AAS project. They are of course building on the outstanding earlier efforts of our past presidents and management committees, and we thank them all."
