Trust is Denmark ’ s invisible natural resource .
For at least the past half century , high levels of trust have helped build a social welfare system in Denmark that is the envy of much of the world . Trust has helped our nation maintain a strong economy - despite a lack of natural resources and raw materials , and many social scientists agree that trust is the secret ingredient in Denmark being crowned ‘ The Happiest Country in the World ’ year after year .
Through the Corona crisis , this high level of social trust has also returned dividends . Comparatively , Denmark has weathered Corona better than most and , again , many scholars agree that trust has played an important role .
Denmark ’ s digital readiness is another important ( and sometimes invisible ) resource , too .
In terms of digital infrastructure , government access , companies born digital and transitioning to digital products and services , the national start-up environment and , not least , our educational system and talent pipeline – Denmark is leading digital .
In 2020 , DigitalLead was established to foster digital innovation even further by bringing companies , educational institutions and public organizations closer together . We also became festival operator for IWDK , which is a natural and necessary part of this work .
For me , IWDK is about discussing , discovering and debating our digital future . It is nothing less than a civic project focused on one of the most important things that unites us today – technology .

TRUST & TECH : THE RAW

MATERIALS OF THE FUTURE

In the best spirit of participatory democracy , you will meet politicians , businesspeople , school children and citizens from all walks of life at the festival . International speakers will open your eyes to the new possibilities and dilemmas being created by technology . Organisations like the Center for Digital Youth Care ( CfDP ) will host a series of events that help kids navigate and balance their online lives , and you will experience just how innovative Denmark is becoming in areas like healthcare , green tech , entrepreneurship and retail commerce .
Trust and technology are two of our most important raw materials . They ’ ve helped Denmark develop one of the most competitive and resilient economies in the world . Looking ahead , they are the building blocks that will ensure we remain innovative and can build even further upon our digital lead position .
