Message from UNSW Business School Message from AAPBS President
Dear AAPBS Members, Dear AAPBS Members,
A very warm welcome to Australia and to UNSW Sydney. I would like
to thank you on behalf of the UNSW Business School for taking
time out from your busy schedules to attend the 2018 AAPBS
Annual Meeting. It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the AAPBS
Annual Meeting.
It is an honour to have you all here in Sydney to discuss this year’s
Meeting theme ‘The Future of Work’. There will be a series of
presentations, panel discussions and conversations on matters of
mutual interest to businesses and business schools. Proceedings
will be held at the Four Seasons Sydney hotel and UNSW Kensington
campus.
Over the next two days we will hear from senior figures from the
business world as well as UNSW Business School colleagues who
will engage with us on envisaged changes in the nature of work and
the associated opportunities and challenges.
Themed sessions will include a focus on perspectives from
professional service companies, a futurist’s perspective on
the future of work, the future significance of entrepreneurship,
implications of envisaged futures at the societal level, and what
will be required of leaders in this changed world, before we
conclude with a session focused on implications for business
schools and universities more broadly.
Although we have a demanding schedule, I hope that you will also
take time to visit some of Sydney’s prime tourist attractions such as
the Sydney Opera House, the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the area
known as The Rocks.
Let me take this opportunity to give my heartfelt appreciation to the
UNSW Business School, for hosting the meeting and providing this
great platform for us to further our dialogue on the future of work.
Innovation and technology undeniably will help power our future
economy and create more quality jobs for our young generation.
Amid the relentless pace of advances, our technology-driven
world will bring hopes, yet new challenges. Our society will not
only need to help those who are at risk of being left behind in the
workforce, but also develop future talent to meet the new demand
for a tech-savvy workforce.
As an expanding network of leading universities, AAPBS brings
us closer together to exchange ideas and promote cross-region
collaboration. I believe your active participation will forge a
constructive platform that facilitates our discussion in the face
of the evolution of work.
I look forward to hearing your thoughts and valuable experiences.
