AAFS Annual Report 2018 - 2019 | Page 26

Growing up I spent the entirety of every summer out at Lake McGregor with my friends and family; coming home only for the odd visit.

We purchased our property out there when I was 7 years old and it quickly became my favourite place, filled with some of my favourite people and where some of my most precious childhood memories were made.

I always believed that the community at Lake McGregor was one of a kind because it was a place where people went to be themselves. After a long work week of being professional, they could go out to the lake and forget about their stresses and just be their goofy selves. It was a place where everyone was accepted and encouraged and everyone genuinely cared for one another.

In preparation of summer 2018, Scott had inquired about AAFS sending a camping trip out to the lake. I was excited for my two most important communities to join forces! My parents were both out at the lake over the time period that we would be camping there, and they had proudly told all of our friends about AAFS. My lake family was excited to meet my AAFS family and I was excited to introduce them.
