A2ndvoice - Autism Spectrum Disorder Special Edition January 2014 | Page 6
Autism does not discriminate…
Getting the diagnosis is a start to helping your autistic child or young person, but
how much do you really understand about Autism or Aspergers? And what
information and/or support have you received to seeking help in caring and living
with a child on the autistic spectrum? It’s best to be prepared, to find out what works
for your autistic child. Early intervention is the key in providing a safe haven for your
autistic child, but importantly you need to look after yourself. We have a habit of
forgetting about our own needs and our family.
The more information that is signposted, shared
and distributed amongst Schools, Colleges, Youth
Offender Services, Libraries, Local GP’s, NHS, Law
Firms, HM Prisons, Banks, Emergency Services,
Local Authorities, Public Transport and society on
a whole.
There would be a greater understanding of this
complex hidden condition as many families
isolate themselves from being judged.
The best way to learn more about Autism and
Aspergers Syndrome is to attend workshops and
seminars.
There will be various workshops,
seminars
and
exhibitions
across
London
throughout the year that we will be sharing.
