SPECIAL EDITION 1st January 2014 A2ndvoice Newsletter Bridging the gap in meeting the needs of those caring for children & adults on the autistic spectrum We are here to inspire, empower, share information, and to build a network for parents & carers for children, young people and adults on the autistic spectrum and other related conditions within the Wandsworth Borough and Greater London Areas. A2ndvoice is a parent-led non-for-profit organisation and recognised charity, which was, formed on 18 May 2012 by Venessa Bobb, a mother of 3, her middle son, Nathaniel was diagnosed with Autism and ADHD in April 2008. He is now 11 years old. Support was received from the Church she attends God Is Gracious Ministries in Tooting, South London. Support Group now moved to Tooting United Reformed Church - Page 4 The support group/drop inn coffee sessions are run by parents/carers with children and/or adults on the autistic spectrum and other related conditions. The atmosphere is relaxed, informal and welcomes individuals and families from all communities and faith groups. Professionals are also welcome. Our workshops are facilitated by Speakers, that specialise in caring and working with those on the Autistic Spectrum. Previous workshops have covered The Role of an Educational Psychologist, What is Autism, Puberty and Sexuality, Challenging Behaviour, Inappropriate Sexualised Behaviour, Potty Training, Sleeping Issues, Girls and Women on the Spectrum. The Group specifically targets people within the BME community and also different faith groups. We signpost and also attend other social groups and workshops across London in making a difference within the autistic and special needs community. Connecting and working with other service providers bridging the gap in meeting the needs for all involved.
