severe brain injury. Specifically for helmets, David Camarillo’s Ted talk provides information
on concussions and the science behind preventing a concussion. He gives factual evidence and
data that shows how concussion actually occurs. Later, Camarillo explains the technology
possible for improving the helmet and other possible designs that are being created to slow the
brain down and keep it’s tissue from stretching immensely which causes severe brain damage.
Also, this provides a contrast between the equipment used from the first days of football to
today’s technology applied to football equipment. A neuropsychologist displays in her through
her presentation that NFL players with 3 or more concussions has severe memory issues.
Football is a heavily contact sport that requires equipment to prevent injuries for the most part.
Today the game is much faster and could be more deadly to the body, therefore helmet
technology must be developed to protect players from having severe brain damage. Concussions
is one of the most talked about topics in football today. Information on concussions is very
important when it comes to designing the equipment for the football players wear for protection.
This is important to know which contributes to how the game is played differently through the
years. In my research I am going to test three different types of helmets of today on different
teams and compare the results. First, I will find five teams and in case one or two teams drop
from the study then at least I will have three teams to work with. I then will test the three
different types of helmets which will be the Xenith, Revo Speed, and the Schutt helmets. Each
team will be provided with one type of helmet. Then, by the end of each team’s season I will
compare the results. The results will consist of head injuries and the amount big impacts that
each of the players receive. Finally, I will compare these results with each of the helmets and
each of the teams, and I will compare the injuries to the injuries recorded from using the leather
