Sunshine (Danny Boyle, 2007)
Despite having a questionable final act, this gripping tale of a space crew sent to detonate a nuclear bomb in the heart of the dying sun in order to save humanity does not lack ambition. While it may not be Boyle’s best, it seldom looks anything less than stunning and is a testament on what can be done with a reduced special-effects budget.
