South Indian temples :
Govindaraja Perumal temple
Santha
If Srinivasa Perumal is on the seven hills , then Govindaraja Perumal is at the feet of Seshachala mountain . This temple , which is filled with the richness of the great art , has been receiving daily worship for more than thousand years . Devotees believe that the Darshan of Swamy who is the idol of Shayanamurthy will remove many sins .
Govindarajaswamy who was in Chidambaram at that time was sent by Ramanujacharya to Tirupati to be worshipped . But for some unavoidable reasons , Govindarajaswamy could not replace them in the temple . Instead of the statue , the statue made of clay was established . Even now Govindarajaswamy is receiving the poojas . Usually in any temple we see , statues with stones and metals but .. there is a yellow statue in Govindarajaswamy temple .
