Abstract
This qualitative paper summarises the insights gained
through the establishment of a reflective practice by a
primary school music teacher while researching the use
of singing games in the classroom for a Primary 3 class. It
describes how singing games can be used effectively to
engage pupils’ learning and creativity. It further presents
how a teacher can leverage on cycles of reflective practice
to hone her pedagogical skills. While the findin gs from the
research on singing games are included for completeness,
the greatest insights were gained from establishing a
reflective practice and this is emphasised accordingly.
