P ERFECT L OVE HOW THEY MET Who would have thought that back in 2008, as college acquain- tances, Tracey and Matthew would become engaged in 2014? One might say “Tracey did”. The determined person that she is, Tracey contacted Matt via Facebook after they had lost touch 5 years earlier. Under false pretenses and with a crush she had harbored throughout college, Tracey asked Matthew to coffee and get his London recommendations as she was ‘planning a trip’ there with a friend (lie) and he had just returned from a semester abroad during business school (true). As Tracey walked into the Ace hotel, Matt took one look at her and knew this wouldn’t be just a quick catch up... Fast forward 2 years and the two had quickly fallen in love. They travelled the world together, spent countless moments laughing and being silly, were each other’s shoulder to lean on, and shared many new memories at their favorite NYC spots. But most importantly, Tracey’s faithful pooch, Winston, accepted Matt into their existing tight-knit duo with open paws. THE PROPOSAL Tracey expressed to Matthew she wanted to view the Metro- politan Museum’s (MET) annual rooftop exhibit and cocktail bar before it closed for the season. The day they had agreed upon finally arrived and Matt excused himself to run errands during the afternoon. A slightly suspicious Tracey got dolled- up for the early evening activity and waited for Matthew to pick her up. When they actually arrived at the MET, Tracey was perplexed. Why would he propose at the place Tracey had suggested they go? It couldn’t be tonight, she thought. 76 Perfect Wedding Magazine A New Era / Spring 2017
