The beautiful, sprawling 16th century Spanish colonial hacienda in Xochimilco, and former home of businesswoman Dolores Olmedo, became a museum in 1994. Mrs. Olmedo’s intention was to publicly display her private art collection, mostly devoted to Mexican artists Diego Rivera and his wife Frida Kahlo, who are both regarded as being major influences on the art world.
