Untitled

Ryan Liang | 8th Grade, Room 202

Description: I named this Untitled intentionally. The boy in the picture is facing a blank canvas, with all of his prior ideas scattered around it. He is going through writer (well, painter's) block, where he doesn't know what to write. That's why I named it Untitled. He isn't painting, so he doesn't have a piece of art, so it has no name. This piece started as an experiment on whether I could create a watercolor - like texture with colored pencils. I hate using any medium other than pencils for art, but I really like the aesthetic of watercolor. Then it turned into this, because I had a hard time coming up with something. So my idea was to draw a person having a hard time coming up with something. :P The boy in the picture is supposed to reflect me. I have a hard time coming up with things to write and draw. Sometimes I really do want to draw, but I just can't. That is what is happening to the person in the drawing as well. Art reflects reality, and this one does so very much.
