...Way To Go, Falk!

Dear Reader of A Little Gray Building,

It doesn’t seem that long ago that we met for the first time at the beginning of the new year to plan for the second issue of A Little Gray Building. In fact, it doesn’t seem that long ago at all that the original editors sat down to do the same thing. We’ve had such an incredible time as the staff of Falk’s Literary Magazine, so now as the year is coming to a close and this issue is pulling together, we look back at the path that has taken us here.

We got right into it by spreading the word of our magazine and making flyers. We met frequently during recess, and came up with a game plan: collect submissions and hold a cover art contest later in the year. Then we started to receive submissions, and we were completely blown away by the variety we got. We received a boatload of submissions from students and teachers alike, ranging from kindergarten to eighth grade to some of our very own teachers. The pieces ranged from childhood memories submitted by many of our eighth graders to poems from seventh graders to projects from Primary and Intermediate.

Of course, we couldn’t have done it at all if it weren’t for the teachers on staff: Ms. Wittig and Mr. Barnett. They’ve been such a huge part of this journey with us, from scheduling meeting times to brainstorming a theme for this year’s issue. Both of them were a huge help by spreading the word
