Connecting Paragraphs
There are three common ways to connect paragraphs:

When a word/ phrase from the previous paragraph is repeated at the start of the next, the reader is able to follow the essay more easily and it will be seen as fluent.
Topic: The cause of traffic incidents
End of paragraph 1: Even the most careful drivers cannot always avoid the dangers of bad weather; therefore, the most sensible drivers try to avoid the bad weather.
Start of paragraph 2: Weather is not the only hazard on the road; motorbikes can prove particularly hazardous for other motorists too.
Topic: One Direction
End of paragraph 1: Never has a band been more successful in America since the Beatles.
Start of paragraph 2: Some may question One Direction’s popularity in America; are they quite the right band to be representing Britain overseas? Some of their recent behaviour in public may contradict this celebratory view.
Topic: Spoken Language comparison
End of paragraph 1: Elle’s nerves are obvious in this interview with Bill in an unfamiliar setting, where she’s dealing with challenging questions.
Start of paragraph 2: Whilst Elle’s nerves are obvious, Mike’s confidence in his speech to his adoring fans is even more clear. His use of hyperbole to exaggerate...
