How could this character's personality be described?
Traditional,honest and old-fashioned. Many of his personality traits derive from the fact that he clings on to his esteemed and privileged life in Afghanistan which leads to him being extremely respectful of characters such as Baba but disparaging to characters such as Sohrab. Another personality trait that clearly shines through in the book is that the character is unafraid to speak his mind but does it in a non-threatening manner as illustrated by his talk with Amir about talking to his daughter before their marriage happens.

General Taheri appears in Chapter 11, but is also prominent in chapters 12,13 and 25.

The early meetings between Soraya and Amir and plays a crucial role in the marriage protocol synonymous with Afghan weddings. He also prompts Amir to defend Sohrab in the final chapters which is important for the story as it illustrates his bond with the child .
