Tinie Tempah has promised to shake up men’s fashion week in London after confirming he will be putting on a show in January.
The rapper, 28, has been heavily involved in the industry, having started his own clothing label under his umbrella business name Disturbing London almost 10 years ago. He is also an ambassador for London Collections: Men, which takes place next month.
The event will be his first fashion show and he has teased fans by likening it to the spectacles put on by lingerie brand Victoria’s Secret.
“I don’t want to say too much but in January there is something special that will be happening in regards to myself and clothing,” he said.
“I just want to take some of the influence of things I’ve seen not only in Italy but when I’ve gone to Victoria’s Secret shows, just incorporating everything into one exciting show. It will happen in the second week of January. So look out for it - it will be very fun.”
Tempah, who has the most UK number ones of any British rapper, said he is “super loyal to London”. He said: “There’s almost a lure, because of Paris and Milan and Japan in fashion, and as a musician America and Germany, there’s always a lure to go somewhere else. But I’m very aware of the time that we are in and I think London is very much the epicentre of what’s going on in the world.”
