What Wedding Photography Trends Are You Seeing For 2025 ?
There has been a rise in a relatively new trend of delivering some purposely out of focus , or motion blurred photos , which I think are supposed to evoke the impression of hastily taken candid shots , or a high end artistic feel . I ’ ve seen them used to good effect , but they have to be used sparingly , and there has to be a definite ‘ feel ’ to the gallery as a whole . This trend seems to have started in earnest this year , and I ’ m not sure how long it will last . It may be the hot new thing and hit the mainstream in 2025 .
Are There Any Trends You ’ ll Be Glad To Leave In 2024 ? Having said all that above , I can only imagine that this ‘ blurred ’ trend will be short-lived , as photographers continually try out new things . Trends by their very nature come and go quickly . The blurred look is not for me .
What Are Couples Asking For From Their Photographer And Wedding Photos At The Moment ?
Couples always ask for as many candid shots as possible as they ’ re ‘ the best ones ’. I reassure my clients that most of the photos they get from me will be candids .
Is There Anything In Your Photography Style That ’ s Unique To You , Or That Couples Particularly Love ?
As well as all their candid shots , I do ask the couple for
10-15 minutes of their time to get some portraits . I am both very aware of not taking up too much of their time , but also that after all the dust has settled on the hundreds of photos delivered , that in 30-40 years there will be one or two photographs that they will be showing their grandchildren as they sit on their knee , or that will be framed on their mantlepiece . In my opinion those photos will be their favourite portraits of themselves , looking the best , and the happiest , they ’ ve ever looked . I aim to get the couple those photographs .
What Are You Most Looking Forward To About Photographing Weddings Over The Coming Year ?
Meeting more people , experiencing new weddings , getting opportunities to take photographs I ’ ve never taken before . Every wedding is another exciting day . I love my job , and I get very excited to show couples their taster photos as soon after the wedding as possible .
I try to push myself to make every wedding gallery different , with its own unique spin . Sometimes the originality comes from a situational opportunity that presents itself , such as the weather , a quick technical experiment that pays off , or a particularly lively guest - but more often than not it comes from the couple themselves , as their personality comes out during the day when they relax and become unguarded . Here ’ s to the long , hot , hazy Summer days of 2025 !
