OUR KENTISH CEREMONY
MARRIED AT THE OLD KENT BARN
DOVER LACE AND SIMON GUIVER HAD A CONTEMPORARY BOHO WEDDING WITH A LAID-BACK FEEL

THE VENUE We saw five venues before The Old Kent Barn , but once we had seen this one , we cancelled our other viewings ! The Old Kent Barn was the first venue we visited in which we could actually visualise ourselves saying our ‘ I do ’ s ’. It was so beautiful yet had a real intimate feel , and we instantly fell in love with it . As a venue it had everything we were looking for and more , but what made it so special was the love and dedication the staff put into every aspect of their service as a venue .
THE DRESS My wedding dress was brought from Amore Bridal in Canterbury and was a Pronovias gown . I wanted a dress that had the perfect mix of elegance and seduction . I wanted it to be fitted but to still feel like a princess and it ticked those boxes for me . Plus , it was one of the comfiest dresses I had tried on which was a bonus ! The ladies at Miss Kay ’ s Seamstress in Sandwich helped turn the dress from a beautiful gown to my dream wedding dress by making some small adaptations to personalise it further .
THE CEREMONY Our favourite moment of the ceremony was the exchanging of our vows , as we had decided to write our own , and this was very personal to us . It was really special to share these with one another in front of all of our loved ones . I walked down the aisle to Kissing You by Desiree which has always made me tear up every time I listen to it ! We had Chiqas string quartet play the music live which made it even more special for us . We also had a personalised poem created for us which was read out by my man of honour , and was another special moment of the ceremony .
THE ENTERTAINMENT We hired GrooveZoo to play at our wedding . They were recommended by our venue , but it was actually our photographer that posted on her social media about how brilliant they were which made us look into them . We thought it was going to take months to decide on a band where music is so important to both of us , but after watching one video of them , we decided to book them ! We didn ’ t even consider any other bands after seeing their work and we ’ re so glad we were so decisive on this as it turns out they were the best band we have ever seen , and it was clear our guests fell in love with them too !
THE PHOTOGRAPHY We chose Pierra G Photography to shoot our wedding day as we simply loved the edit on her photos . Her unique style was everything we were looking for and we loved how when looking through different photographers ’ work we could always tell if an image was captured by Pierra .
THE HIGHLIGHT Our highlight of the day was definitely being announced as husband and wife !
