INSPIRATION
BACK TO THE FUTURE You might have thought big shoulders and power suits were best left in the ’ 80 ’ s , but for 2023 they ’ re back ! That ’ s right , the trend for strapless or thin-strapped gowns has been replaced with voluminous sleeves , high necks and big bows . But , while this new trend definitely has a nod to Princess Diana ’ s wedding aesthetic , it ’ s also very much a modern take . Sleeves are sheer , bows are small , and ruffled necklines are paired with mini dresses or low backs for an updated twist on a classic style .
Suits are also big news for brides in 2023 - not only are they comfortable ( no corset anywhere to be seen !), they offer a chic and contemporary look , and can be as minimal or as detailed as you like .
STAYING SMALL After the pandemic forced many couples to scale back their weddings and celebrate in a more subdued style , it may come as a surprise that micro weddings and smaller , more intimate weddings are set to remain popular for 2023 . Having a smaller wedding affords you the opportunity to spend more personal time with the ones you love . In some cases it helps to bring the budget down too , although some couples are choosing to keep the guest list small but go big on the details .
WEDDING WEEKENDS If a micro wedding doesn ’ t sound like your thing then fear not - at the opposite end of the spectrum is the trend for a wedding weekender - that ’ s the chance to celebrate your nuptials for three or four days . While long weekend weddings used to be reserved for destination marriages , now , couples are opting to have three or four days of activities to mark their big day , even if they ’ re tying the knot close to home .
