NEXT STEPS

AFTER I DO YOUR CHECKLIST OF THINGS TO CONSIDER AFTER YOUR BIG DAY

Pack for honeymoon .
Open your gifts ; keep a list of gifts as you open them - it makes writing thank you letters much easier !
Return any hired items such as suits by the deadline to avoid late fees . Discuss with the bridal party whether each member is responsible for returning their own items or whether you will be returning everything in one go . Ensure any smaller hired items such as ties , waistcoats etc . also make it back !
If you ’ re planning to keep your wedding dress , consider getting it dry cleaned and boxed . Many bridal boutiques offer this service , so get in touch with yours to see if they can arrange this for you .
If you ’ d like to sell your wedding dress , you may still wish to get it dry cleaned . Then , research specialist dress selling services and preloved bridal shops to see if this is the route you ’ d like to take , or whether you ’ d prefer to sell the dress yourself using second hand bridal websites or preloved clothes apps like Vinted or Depop .
Once your photos come through from your photographer , choose your favourite and order thank you cards .
Decide how you ’ d like to display your photos - then order prints , frames or an album .
Consider selling or gifting any items you no longer need , such as table decorations . Local Facebook groups are good for selling unwanted wedding items .
Review your suppliers . If you loved what your photographer , dress boutique or venue did , then give them a glowing review and let other couples know how good they are .
Enjoy time together ! Once the wedding is over it can be easy to slip back into ‘ old ’ life , but try to take time to enjoy being newlyweds .
YOUR DOCUMENTS If you ’ re planning to change your name when you get married then you may be surprised to learn that when you officially say ‘ I do ’, your name doesn ’ t automatically change . Instead , to legally change your name , you need to notify various authorities and organisations , including :
• Your bank
• HMRC
• DVLA
• Gov . uk for passports
• Your landlord or mortgage lender
• Your employer
• Your GP
• Your local council
• Utilities services such as gas , water and electricity
• Any loyalty schemes you have memberships for ( such as supermarket cards etc )
