A CUSTOM CHEERS

SWAP YOUR TRADITIONAL WEDDING TIPPLE FOR SOMETHING MORE BESPOKE

Toasting your marriage is a big part of your wedding day , but one way many couples choose to make it even more special is by selecting custom made cocktails .

Perhaps you favour a G & T over a glass of fizz , or maybe some of your best memories as a couple were made over a holiday mojito . Whatever the story behind your favourite drink , share it with your guests by serving up a signature cocktail or two . Here , we look at the growing trend of bespoke beverages , and give you some tips to help you decide which tipples to toast with on your wedding day .
THE PERSONAL TOUCH Choosing signature cocktails is a lovely way to add a personal touch to your wedding - and it ’ s something that all of your guests can enjoy with you , too . As well as selecting the ingredients to reflect you as individuals or as a couple , you can also have fun coming up with names for your bespoke beverages .
MIX AND MATCH When selecting your signature serve there are lots of things to consider - obviously you want it to look and taste great , but how about tying it in with your theme , too ? From choosing a cocktail with colours that fit with your venue , to garnishing it with florals that appear in your arrangements , there are plenty of ways to dress your drink up .
COCKTAIL O ’ CLOCK Of course , you can choose to serve your signature cocktails at any time during your big day , but many couples opt to swap out the traditional fizz that ’ s served during the drinks reception ( the time after the ceremony but before the meal ). This is often the time when the photos are taken and the newlyweds get whisked off for a little while to have their couples ’ shots captured , meaning it can be a good time to get the cocktails and canapés out to keep guests occupied .
SHAKEN OR STIRRED ? One thing to consider when selecting your signature cocktails is the complexity involved in creating them . While it might seem like a great idea to have lots of unusual ingredients or garnishes , if every cocktail needs to be stirred 12 times and have gold leaf placed intricately inside the glass before serving , you and your guests could be waiting quite a long time for that cheers moment …
DRINKING GAMES If you want to make your custom cocktails a little bit competitive , you could each choose a different drink and then get your guests to vote throughout the day on which is their favourite . Who doesn ’ t love starting off married life with a bit of friendly rivalry , after all ?!
