THE VENUE We knew we were looking for a rustic barn setting in a remote area , so The Plough instantly looked like a good choice to us before we ’ d even gone to visit it . It gave the relaxed , intimate feel that we were looking for , and all the staff that we encountered were so friendly , so from the offset we knew we were in good hands for our special day .
THE DRESS I bought my dress from Love in Lace Bridal in Chiddingstone and it was one of the most memorable parts of the whole wedding buildup . I knew I wanted something a bit ‘ different ’ in terms of pattern , but I always imagined I would wear a flowy A-line style . When I tried these styles on I was underwhelmed . The amazing Cath at the store convinced me to try a low-V fitted dress that I would never have tried otherwise , and I fell in love straight away .
THE CEREMONY The best moment of the ceremony was the walk down the aisle for both of us . It was the excitement and release of nerves of finally seeing one another across the room , and being reunited at the end of the aisle to finally say our vows in front of everyone we loved .
THE RECEPTION For our wedding breakfast , we opted for sharing BBQ platters – we loved the idea of everyone being able to share the food and take whatever they wanted , and we wanted a good old burger on our wedding day ! We are both massive foodies and it was really important to us to have a high quality of food , and The Plough ’ s chefs exceeded all expectations . Who knew BBQ food could taste so good ?!
One of the main themes of the wedding was gin because our initials are G & T . We made our table plan and table decorations from gin bottles , using them as vases and adding fairy lights to some . Each table was named with a gin bottle we have collected from a place we have been together , such as Shivering Mountain gin from the Peak District , or Dockyard gin as this was near the spot we got engaged .
THE ENTERTAINMENT Following the wedding breakfast , we had a singer called Elizmi perform a couple of sets in the garden . It provided the perfect ambience for people to have in the background with evening guests arriving , and for people to chill and have a little dance under the evening sun . For the evening , we used the resident house DJ , Gary Lucci , who also acted as our toastmaster in the day .
THE HIGHLIGHT Our highlight was after the wedding breakfast , when we could truly unwind and just spend time with everyone we loved , having a catchup and playing the garden games . It ’ s a truly special moment when you ’ re looking out across the Plough ’ s gardens with the one you ’ ve just married seeing everyone else you love in your life all having a fantastic time .
