ASK THE EXPERT
wedding. This gives enough time to implement any skin and haircare changes that may be necessary before the big day.
You offer dermaplaning; is it a good idea to have this treatment before your wedding, and if so, how soon before should you book it in?
Having dermaplaning a couple of days before your wedding is a great idea as it removes dead skin cells and that annoying vellus hair! With this gone, I can guarantee that your makeup will 100 % look more flawless and last the day and night.
You use vegan and cruelty-free products. Do these work the same as, or even better than, non-vegan options? Do you have any favourites in your toolkit?
There are so many exceptional and highperformance brands that are cruelty free, and many professional makeup artists, including myself, trust them for bridal beauty. Quality is never compromised. It makes me sad that so many well-known brands still test on animals! I’ m passionate about using brands that align with my values. Some of my absolute faves include Natasha Denona, Charlotte Tilbury, Maria Nila and Paul Mitchell. The brands I use not only prioritise ethical beauty but also offer incredible vegan-friendly options. For those looking for 100 % vegan products, Hourglass and KVD are fantastic choices. Ethical beauty and luxury can really go hand in hand.
Summer weddings can often get quite warm; do you have any advice to keep wedding makeup in place all day?
When it comes to summer weddings, the key to keeping your makeup looking flawless all day is choosing the right
products and applying them in a way that ensures longevity. This is where having a professional makeup artist makes all the difference. I carefully select skin-prepping products suited to skin type, ensuring the base is perfectly primed for long wear. High-quality foundations, set with powders and setting sprays, help lock everything in place even in the heat. I also use waterproof and smudge-proof formulas for mascara and eyeliner to prevent any movement.
One of the biggest wedding day moments is when emotions run high and tears flow, so it’ s important to dab rather than wipe to avoid disrupting your makeup. And to keep brides looking fresh from morning to night, I provide a personalised touch-up kit with essentials like blotting paper, mini loose setting powder, beauty blenders, powder puff and their chosen lip colour so they can maintain that perfect bridal glow throughout the day.
For you, what’ s the best part of creating bridal looks?
The best part of creating bridal looks is seeing a bride’ s confidence shine when she looks in the mirror and she truly feels like the best version of herself. I sometimes have tears myself and very often have tears of joy from the brides, which is just so heartwarming and makes my job so incredibly worthwhile. It may sound cliché, but for me it is about more than just hair and makeup; it’ s about bringing my bride’ s vision to life, enhancing her natural beauty and making her feel radiant, elegant and completely herself on one of the most important days of her life.
