YOUR CEREMONY
Meet the Team
We meet the Ceremonies Team based at The Mansion House in Tunbridge Wells, who give us an insight into their roles
The role of the Ceremonies Team The Ceremonies Team in Tunbridge Wells is made up of six members of staff. We have the privilege of meeting people from all over the world who have chosen to marry in Kent. We are the first point of contact for couples enquiring about a ceremony, whether that be a marriage, civil partnership, renewal of vows, or civil partnership conversion.
We’ re responsible for overseeing all ceremonies conducted in our area of Tunbridge Wells and Sevenoaks, whether this is at a licensed premise, register office, registered building( for example a non-conformist church) or even in hospital or at home for an emergency ceremony in the situation where one party is unwell. We are all fully trained as registrars and celebrants.
The main responsibilities involve conducting legal preliminary appointments and liaising with couples regarding all administrative aspects of their ceremony.
Working in the Ceremonies Team is extremely rewarding as we help guide our couples through the journey from the initial enquiry, conducting and registering their ceremony on their special day, through to the legal marriage certificates being issued and posted. We are often called upon to answer a huge variety of questions about getting married in England and Wales. Just when you thought you had answered all the questions, another one comes along that you have never encountered before!
Memorable moments The joy of our role as ceremonies officers means that we get to see so many different ceremonies and no two are ever alike. Whether it be live musicians, beautifully written personal vows or readings, or even a helicopter flyover, there is always something to look forward to.
We have learned that all ceremonies can be equally special, whether they are in one of our impressive licensed venues, or whether it is a small ceremony with a handful of nearest and dearest at the register office. We particularly enjoy the heartwarming nature of a small wedding, which can bring so much emotion and joy to all involved.
Forget your weather woes! Our advice to any couple getting married is to try to focus on what truly matters to you and your partner. You can personalise your ceremony and we will do our very best to ensure that you have the most memorable day.
And, don’ t worry about the weather – it’ s the one thing you cannot control. Relax, enjoy it and really be‘ in the moment’ on your special day as it will be over in a flash.
