The Venue Lucy’ s parents were so excited once we got engaged that they decided to go to some wedding fairs to kickstart the planning process as Lucy is their youngest daughter and first to get married. They went to the Hythe Imperial wedding fair and fell in love, and thought we would enjoy it just as much as they did. They were right; the second we saw the Hythe Imperial we knew it was the place we wanted to get married.
The Dress Growing up with my mum as a dressmaker, I knew I wanted my mum to make my wedding dress. I tried on roughly 20 dresses before I found the style I wanted. Everything I had tried on beforehand didn’ t feel like the right fit for me; everyone tells you you know when you find the one, but no one mentions how deflating it can be when you leave multiple shops not finding anything you like. I found the wedding dress that inspired mine through adverts on Facebook, funnily enough. We made some changes to match my style and body shape, and I was so happy with how it looked. I had endless compliments telling me how beautiful it was and how talented my mum is!
The Ceremony We had a funny moment when it came to exchanging the rings. They’ d been kept in my( Lucy’ s) dad’ s safe for a year but when our ringbearers handed them over and we opened the boxes, the price stickers were still on the jewellery! We are very laid back people and like to find the funny side of things as often as we can, so it didn’ t bother us and everyone had a good laugh.
The Cake Nathan’ s good friend( Ellie’ s Baking Goods) made our wedding cake and our cupcakes. We had found an inspirational picture on Pinterest, which Ellie had completely brought to life. It was a red velvet sweetheart cake with traditional piping and the words‘ Till Death’ written across the face of the cake. We also had two flavours of cupcake: lemon and chocolate.
The Photography Our photographer was Fleur Challis, who was a recommended supplier for our venue. After looking through her Instagram at the photos she had taken, I knew there was no one else I would rather have photograph our wedding. Fleur and her husband captured our day beautifully and the photos turned out so amazing, especially with neither of us being too comfortable in front of the camera!
