Gather your ideas Arguably the most fun bit of the wedding planning process is the period of time after you’ ve just got engaged and you get to start discussing all of your ideas with your loved one.
Mood boards are a great way to get started, and that way you can keep track of themes, colours, and personal touches you like the look of.
Talk money Definitely not the most enjoyable part of wedding planning, but necessary nonetheless; before you book anything you need to decide what you can realistically afford, and how much you want to spend on each element, such as venue, flowers, entertainment and outfits.
If you have friends or family who have recently tied the knot and who are willing to share the details of their wedding costs, then it’ s a great idea to ask around and get some ideas of how much the things you want will cost.
Make your guest list Before you start looking at venues or planning catering, work out how many guests you’ re likely to have for your big day. Some venues have a limit on the amount of people they can hold, so if you want a big bash that’ s something to consider when searching for a place to host your wedding.
Visit some venues Once you’ ve worked out the type of wedding you’ d like, make some appointments to view your favourite venues. Some places get booked up years in advance, so if you have your heart set on somewhere, consider that you may need to compromise on a date or season in order to have your wedding day there.
