INSPIRATION
Samantha Reynolds from Emily & Me, the Kent Wedding Awards’ 2025 Wedding Florist of the Year, shares with us her tips for sustainable wedding flower styling.
“ We are passionate about taking an eco-conscious approach to creating beautiful florals while minimising environmental impact,” she says.“ With there now being a growing desire for eco-friendly weddings that reduce waste and support ethical practices, we want to showcase that beauty and sustainability really can go hand in hand, making weddings both memorable and meaningful.”
1Choose flowers that are in season. By opting for seasonal florals depending on your chosen wedding month, you can enjoy flowers that are fresher, more affordable and naturally aligned with the time of year.
2Choose potted plants instead of thank you bouquets or disposable favours. A beautiful rose can be planted to provide memories year after year and a mini cactus will be in someone’ s home long after the celebration.
3Extend the life of your wedding flowers by repurposing them. Bridal bouquets can become centrepieces and ceremony arrangements can be moved to the reception. After the wedding, donate your flowers to hospitals, nursing homes or charities, or even compost them to return nutrients to the soil. This reduces waste and spreads joy beyond your special day.
