THE VENUE We found The Old Kent Barn online and fell in love straight away ! We booked a viewing , and as soon as we walked onto the green we knew it was where we wanted to get married , it just looked fantastic . We ’ d both always wanted to get married in a barn type of venue , so it ticked that box for us straight away . The layout , the gardens , the lights , and even the staff on our visit were nothing short of perfect . There was no question for us .
THE OUTFITS I got my wedding dress from Perfection Bridal in Maidstone . I always knew the style of dress I wanted , and when I tried it on on my first visit there I was more in love than I ever thought I would be - it was everything I ’ d hoped it would be and more . As I walked out of the changing room , my mum and twin were in tears and my mother in law got goosebumps , so this confirmed it for me . It was so special .
Joseph and I went to some suit shops and he tried on a few , but ultimately he chose the material he liked the most and then we got it tailor-made for him .
HAIR & MAKEUP My amazing hairdresser Hanna King did my hair on the day ; she has done my hair since I was a little girl and I wouldn ’ t have had anyone else ! She knows all the family too so it was special for her to be there . My makeup was from a beautiful girl called Bethany Cairn . She was so stunning in her work and made us all feel a million dollars !
THE CEREMONY Honestly my favourite part was walking down the aisle . A moment we had waited so long for , I could see Joseph at the altar , looking so handsome and everything suddenly just felt so right and calm .
THE CAKE Our wedding cake was so special . My twin is a cake maker and owns her own business , Cakes By Polly , so we were able to create something very unique . We found that guests tend to forget about the cake come the evening once the dancing and band are on , so we wanted them to enjoy it with their meal . So , we had one cake per table as our centrepieces , which then acted as dessert . One person on each table had a cake knife on their place setting so they could cut their table ’ s cake and serve it up .
THE PERSONAL TOUCHES I am a graphic designer and so I designed all of our own stationery for the day which made it very personal for us . I had designed us a wedding stamp which I used on all our stationery , invites , posters , name settings and confetti cones ; which helped make it all personal . We also created personal playlists to be played during the day at various points ; music that we chose and that we love .
THE PHOTOGRAPHY Kerry Ann Duffy was our photographer - we came across her on Instagram when searching for wedding photographers , and we are so glad we did . Our photos are incredible and we are very happy with them , especially our confetti shots - we did three ! We also had a videographer , Russell Kent Nicholls . Joseph and I both loved the idea of having memories to look back on , so having a photographer and a videographer was very important to us .
