The Venue As we got together very young , I had been planning our wedding for a long time . As a teenager , I was scrolling online and as soon as I saw the page for The Old Kent Barn , I fell in love !
When we got engaged , we knew exactly where we were going to get married ! We booked to see the venue in person and it was exactly what we had imagined as their website is so detailed . We wanted somewhere that was beautiful outside but could also cater to everybody inside , in one big room , so everyone felt involved at all times .
The Dress As a bigger girl , I was always worried I would not find a dress that would support and flatter me . A lot of dresses claim that they are plus size , but the only dresses they have in store are in straight sizes . I actually went up to Liverpool to visit my sister and she recommended that I go to the same place that she went to . The dress I tried on was the first one that made me feel supported , elegant and like a bride ! They didn ’ t even question my size or hint at losing weight as they were a plus size only bridal shop .
The Ceremony Our favourite moment of the ceremony was walking down the aisle .
We have been together since we were 14 . We went to separate unis , bought our first house , and renovated it and this was our next chapter that we had spoken about for years . So , walking down to ‘ Accidentally in Love ’ from Shrek 2 sung by the incredible Abigail Cardwell , and officially making eye contact - that is a moment I will never forget !
The Food The Old Kent Barn supplied all the catering and the food was incredible . Guests actually came up to us and said how it was not only the best meal that they ’ d ever had at a wedding , but also some of the best food that they ’ ve ever eaten .
We decided to have a cheese cake made from wheels of cheese as we both come from families that LOVE cheese !
The Photography We had James Pearce as our wedding photographer . I actually found him on YouTube as he does walk-through videos and shares his thoughts behind photography and videography . I found this so interesting and I loved knowing his thought process behind things .
We were also incredibly lucky to book the fantastic Dan Li as our videographer . Not only was he recommended by the Kent Wedding Awards , but whenever we spoke about him everyone explained how lucky we were as he is exceptional !
The Highlight Our highlight was definitely being able to say that we were finally husband and wife with so many of our family , friends and loved ones .
