The Venue We knew we wanted a barn / farm style wedding in the countryside , with a rustic and relaxed feel . We also knew we wanted to invite around 100 people and didn ’ t want our guests to have to travel too far so looked within a two hour radius of our home in Essex .
We wanted our cockapoo Teddy to be part of the wedding so looked at dog-friendly venues which definitely helped to narrow it down . We also wanted to be able to spread the celebrations over a couple of days so searched for venues that had lots of on-site accommodation . As soon as we saw the oak gazebo overlooking the estuary and the beautiful countryside views we knew it was the one .
The Ferry House was the second venue that we viewed , but we just knew straight away it was the venue for us . We cancelled the viewing of the third venue and ended up booking our wedding that day !
The Ceremony There were a few little moments throughout the ceremony that we loved . Saying our vows was pretty special as well as having our dog as our ring bearer , but our favourite moment was when we first saw each other when I was walking down the aisle . We both got pretty emotional and were fighting back happy tears .
The Cake Our wedding cake was designed by the venue and was a little different . It was a Belgian chocolate brownie , in three deconstructed tiers , one tier was covered with white chocolate , one tier with salted caramel and the last tier with chocolate orange . The venue also decorated it with flowers from their garden . It was delicious !
The Speeches We did the speeches before the wedding breakfast so that Jack , my dad and the best men could relax and enjoy their meal . Both my dad and Jack ’ s speeches were brilliant .
But , the real standout moment during the wedding breakfast was due to my amazing sister . She surprised everyone as she had booked the Singing Waiters Masters , I don ’ t know how she managed to keep it a secret . It was honestly the best surprise I have ever received ! Gavin and Sabrina had posed as waiters the entire day and then suddenly burst into song and got everyone up singing and dancing which was so much fun !
The Photography Our photographer was Chris Blackledge ( Chris Blackledge Photography ) – he was the top recommendation on The Ferry House suppliers list and works with the venue a lot . We actually met Chris when we went to view the venue and we both didn ’ t want to be posing a lot on the day so we liked his unobtrusive style .
The Highlight The whole day ( or few days ) was just so much better than we ever anticipated and we both felt so much love ! But the absolute highlight has to be the singing waiters as we both had absolutely no idea , it was such a wonderful surprise .
