Westenhanger Castle
Leeds Castle
During the 16th century , King Henry VIII made major alterations to the castle , transforming it into a royal palace . However , in 1552 , nearly 300 years of royal ownership came to an end when Leeds Castle was given to Anthony St . Leger , the Lord Deputy of Ireland .
The early 20th century saw Lady Baillie take ownership of the castle , and it became one of the great country houses of England , where she hosted lavish parties for everyone from royalty to film stars .
