TRENDS
MINI “ Individual and mini cakes made their debut during the pandemic and they have remained popular ,” says Greta . “ These are a great idea as they offer guests their own cake rather than just a slice - plus it cuts down the time between the cake-cutting moment and actually eating the cake . It also allows couples to play around with a variety of flavours instead of settling for maybe one or two on a tiered cake .”
RUSTIC Ideal for laid-back weddings ( think barns and countryside affairs ), rustic cakes have been popular for a few years now , and this trend looks set to continue for a while longer . Naked cakes have been dressed up a bit for 2023 and semi-naked is the look many couples are going for - where the cake is still iced but in a relaxed way .
“ Many couples opt for this style of cake as they can easily be personalised and provide a wonderful blank canvas on which to add decoration , such as fresh flowers , seasonal berries or foliage ,” says Greta . “ They are also a good way of keeping wedding costs down as seminaked cakes tend to be less expensive than their fondant counterparts .”
