Code Red Initiative
In a time where community relations are failing and hope is dwindling, an initiative in northwest Louisiana is designed to change these outlooks on life. The Code Red Initiative is designed to repair community relations and give hope to the Shreveport-Bossier community.
Since 2013, Code Red’s motto and platform is to “stop the killing and start the healing.” Being on the front lines of numerous rallies, prayer vigils, and forums, Code Red is planning to take it one step further and step into the communities within Shreveport and Bossier to address the needs of the community.
This year, Code Red has re-established it’s initiative by taking a part in the “Enough is Enough” Rally held at Praise Temple Full Gospel Baptist Cathedral on Saturday, June 4, 2016. The purpose of the rally was to bring awareness of the negative impact of gun violence and what actions and
measures can be taken to remedy the problems and issues surrounding parts of the city of Shreveport.
On Saturday, July 23,2016, Code Red held it’s Code Red Community Forum at Praise Temple Full Gospel Baptist Cathedral. Featured speakers included Cpl. Jason Cook, Brandon Dean, Sherell Jefferson, Tomiko Williams, Roxann Johnson, and Jasmine Brandon.
Topics included:
Unity in the Community: Police to the Public
Unity in the Community Public to the Police, Personal Responsibility, Health and Wellness
Anti Bullying and Anger Management and, Encouragement to our Youth.
The Code Red Initiative plans to have more events for the community to promote awareness and educate the public on situations highlighted in the media and also within the city. For more information on Code Red, please visit, northwestlouisianacdc.org
