Maddie Riewoldt’s Vision
In its third instalment, Etihad Stadium was again turned into a sea
of purple as the Saints raised awareness and much-needed funds
to find new treatments for Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes.
INITIATIVES
+ + With the help of Saints fans and the Federal and State
Governments, a total of $1,463,013.84 was raised on the night.
+ + Game activations included a pre-game lights out
performance by Paul Dempsey, a cash grab machine with a
host of celebrities including Nick Riewoldt, Georgia Love and
Hamish McLachlan, and St Kilda Football Club sponsors Dare
Iced Coffee and Holman each donated $500 per Saints goal.
The thing with aplastic anaemia, because it doesn’t
have that ‘cancer’ label behind it, it doesn’t seem
as serious, but in some ways, it can be. Most people
don’t know what it is … so I think getting that
awareness, getting the funds for research and those
sorts of things into new treatments is great.”
