The Spotlight

Each month we shine the light on a special person or organization who we feel deserves recognition.

This month’s spotlight is on Mamas Care: a non-profit organization set up in south London to send clothes to under privileged women and children in Uganda. Mamas Care collects clothes from donors all over the UK, packages them individually in 'care packages' and sends them to Uganda. They are then distributed to some of the neediest people of the country.

"A few clothes to you may not seem like a big deal, that dress you have only worn once that is hiding in your wardrobe, that hijab you got seven Eids ago that you don’t wear. Well to someone else, those clothes can be a blessing, a source of joy and a momentary ease of hardship. So many Muslims around the world take for granted the everyday blessings Allah has given us. At Mamas Care we believe that individuals are blessed to bless others. When Allah gives us a blessing He is not giving it to us alone rather He is giving it to the world through us. Thus we have an obligation to share the blessing we have with others. We all have far too many clothes that we neither wear or need, at Mamas care we are creating the opportunity for people to turn their clutter into a source of Baraka. We are helping those in need in Uganda by providing them with the basic essentials that they are missing. At the same time we are helping those who are not in needing fulfill their duty to help others. We see what we are doing as a win-win situation, everyone involved is in need: the recipients are in need of help on this dunya, and the donors are in need of help in the ahkriah. In shaa Allah we can all help each other. Get involved in anyway you can even if its just liking our facebook page."
